Before you pour a batch, add your formula as a Craftybase recipe. List each ingredient — wax type and weight, fragrance oil with its load percentage, wick, dye, and vessel — and Craftybase calculates your exact cost per candle the moment you save. When wax or fragrance oil prices change, every recipe that uses them updates automatically.
When you melt your wax and blend in your fragrance oil at the correct addition temperature, log a manufacture in Craftybase. This creates a batch record, automatically deducts your wax, fragrance oil, and other materials from raw material stock, and assigns a lot number to the batch. Every supplier lot used — including your fragrance — is linked to that production run.
As you pour at the correct temperature and the wax sets in its container, your Craftybase batch record captures the full production snapshot — quantities made, materials consumed, and lot traceability from supplier through to finished candle. If a fragrance supplier issues a recall, you can pull up exactly which candles were affected in seconds.
Soy candles typically need 1–2 weeks of cure time for the best hot throw before they're ready to sell. During that window Craftybase holds the batch as in-progress inventory — materials have been consumed from stock, but finished goods haven't increased yet. You can see what's curing, plan your next pour, and avoid selling candles before they're at their best.
Once cured, trimmed, and labelled, candles move into finished goods inventory. When orders arrive from Etsy or Shopify, Craftybase syncs them automatically and decrements your finished stock. COGS is recorded per order as you ship, so your tax-time reports are already built — no extra spreadsheet required.
